Artist Paula Leme has unveiled the PURO collection, a project that explores the intersection between contemporary art and ceramics, developed in collaboration with Aleluia Ceramics in the production of tile-based pieces.

According to the artist, the collection “emerges from a subjective interpretation of artistic references and finds inspiration in the subtle contours present in refined geometric forms, in visual rhythm, and in the balance between colour, space and the silence of Roberto Burle Marx’s gardens, whose visual language has always greatly inspired me.”

As part of this partnership, two of the artist’s works were produced in ceramic, reinterpreted through the technique of hand painting. Among them, a polychromatic panel composed of 16 tiles measuring 15×15 cm stands out. The collection also includes three decorative cube models, each made up of six tiles.

The translation of these works into ceramic highlights the potential of tile as an artistic medium, where the manual process adds texture, depth and authenticity to each piece. The result is a collection that brings together artistic gesture and ceramic craftsmanship, bridging hand painting with a contemporary visual language.

The artist notes that “Aleluia Ceramics is synonymous with the tradition and excellence of Portuguese tiles. Being close to a brand with this profile has always been an important goal, and bringing this partnership to life represents the fulfilment of a very special project.”

Regarding the development process, she adds, “the ease of communication and a contemporary mindset defined this first phase of our collaborative creation process, enabling an agile workflow with fast and consistent results — a strong foundation for future projects.”

For Aleluia Ceramics, this collaboration is part of a broader approach to valuing hand painting, seeking to reposition it within the realm of art and to explore new applications for ceramics. The connection with contemporary artists thus emerges as a way to renew this technique and project it into new contexts and audiences.
