To conclude the 50th anniversary celebrations, the University of Aveiro has inaugurated a commemorative totem called ‘Glossário’ near Rua da Pega.
Positioned at ‘Ponto 50,’ this 6-meter-high artistic installation features four faces that pay tribute to iconic elements of the region— Ria, Salt, Wind, and Light.
These faces showcase a selection of 21 words, voted by the community, that represent values and memories from the university’s five decades of history. The words were later screen-printed onto 2,500 14×14 cm tiles, some of which were hand-painted during a community session.
The project was designed by Estúdio Pedrita in collaboration with the artistic intervention platform Mistaker Maker. Most of the tiles were donated and fired by Aleluia Ceramics.
