Aleluia Ceramics has taken another decisive step in its sustainability strategy by integrating biomethane with a Renewable Gas Guarantee of Origin certificate into its production process, through a partnership with Goldenergy, one of Portugal’s leading suppliers of 100% green electricity and natural gas for the industrial sector.
Biomethane is a renewable gas obtained from the recovery of organic waste and is considered CO₂ neutral when certified with Guarantees of Origin issued by EEGO – the Portuguese Issuing Entity of Guarantees of Origin. This certification ensures full traceability of the energy used and confirms its effective contribution to decarbonization.
The biomethane consumed by Aleluia Ceramics results from the treatment and recovery of solid and agricultural waste, supplied through Axpo Group, the Swiss shareholder of Goldenergy.

With this initiative, Aleluia Ceramics takes a pioneering role in the national ceramics sector, reinforcing its commitment to energy transition, carbon footprint reduction, and the adoption of more responsible environmental practices.
In addition, the company is finalizing the expansion of its photovoltaic park, launched in 2024, which extends across two industrial units and covers a total area of 12,000 m². This project will enable the company to generate 3.6 GWh/year of solar energy, representing a 30% reduction in electricity consumption from the grid.

At the same time, Aleluia Ceramics is renovating its headquarters building, with the aim of making it more energy efficient and comfortable for employees.
“Our commitment to sustainability is part of our daily actions and involves the entire organization. At Aleluia Ceramics, we take responsibility for facing global environmental challenges as a priority, making decisions that ensure the preservation of the environment and the future of the communities where we operate.” Vera Venâncio (Sustainability Department)
