In the “Rustic Charm” project from Querido Mudei a Casa, a kitchen and a bedroom were renovated to give them a refreshed and modern look.
In the kitchen, ceramic played a structural role in creating an atmosphere balanced between rustic and contemporary.
According to the decorator Rita Glória, the choice of wall coverings was key to building a coherent visual narrative, where texture, colour and materiality work together to create comfort and identity.
The wall takes centre stage with the Urban Atelier collection, in the colours Marfim and Camurça. The depth of the glaze and the chromatic variation of these surfaces create a sophisticated and sensory reading, reinterpreting traditional aesthetics through a contemporary perspective.
The checkerboard pattern introduces rhythm and character, evoking the imagery of rural kitchens, but with a contemporary and architectural expression.
This solution allows ceramic to move beyond being merely a functional element and instead become a true design language, adding texture and dimension to the space. The interaction between the neutral tones creates visual balance and reinforces a sense of warmth, while enhancing natural light and expanding the perception of space.
In dialogue with the wall covering, the light wood cabinetry extends the natural character of the composition, while the flooring contributes to visual continuity, creating a fluid and cohesive environment. The white stone countertops introduce lightness and functionality, acting as a contemporary counterpoint to the material richness of the wall.
The gold and brass details add sophistication and warmth, standing out against the neutral base of the ceramic and reinforcing the elegance of the project. At the centre, the wooden table, accompanied by bistro-inspired chairs, defines the space as a place for gathering and sharing.
The result is a luminous, balanced and timeless kitchen, where ceramic takes on the role of a structural element, capable of translating tradition, modernity and comfort into a single language.
